This policy explains what personal data this website collects, why, and what rights you have over it. It applies to RankWank.com only.
Who is responsible for your data
RankWank is operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom, acting as the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What data is collected
Information you give me directly
Comments. If you leave a comment, the site records the name, email address and website you enter, along with your IP address and browser user agent. Your email address is not published. An anonymised string derived from it may be sent to the Gravatar service to display an avatar.
Contact form / email. If you get in touch, I keep your message and contact details so I can reply and to maintain a record of the correspondence.
Information collected automatically
Server logs. The web server records the IP address, browser type, referring page, and time of each request. This is standard for any website and is used for security and diagnosing faults.
Security and performance services. This site uses CloudFlare as a content delivery network and security layer. CloudFlare processes request data, including your IP address, to filter malicious traffic and serve pages quickly.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links are labelled on the pages where they appear.
When you click an affiliate link you are taken to the retailer’s own website. At that point the retailer or its affiliate network may set cookies on your device to record that you arrived from here, so that any resulting commission can be attributed correctly.
I do not receive your name, address, payment details, or details of what you bought. I only see aggregated reporting such as the number of clicks and the total value of any commission earned.
Once you leave this site, the retailer’s own privacy policy applies to your visit. Their practices are outside my control, and I’d encourage you to read them.
Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies. CloudFlare sets cookies such as __cf_bm and cf_clearance to distinguish humans from bots and to manage security challenges. WordPress sets cookies if you log in or choose to have your comment details remembered. These are required for the site to function and are not used for tracking or advertising.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
Why I’m allowed to process your data
Under the UK GDPR, processing must have a lawful basis. The bases relied on here are:

Where I rely on legitimate interests, I’ve considered whether that interest is outweighed by your rights, and limited the data collected accordingly.
Who your data is shared with
Your data is not sold, and is not shared for advertising purposes. It is processed by the following service providers on my behalf:
- EthernetNetworks — web hosting. Servers are located in New Jersey, United States.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — content delivery, DNS and security. Cloudflare operates a global network and may process data outside the UK.
- Various Affiliate Networks — affiliate tracking and commission reporting.
- Automatic (Gravatar) — avatar display for commenters, where applicable.
Data may also be disclosed where I’m required to do so by law.
International transfers
Because this site is hosted in the United States and served through a global network, your data will be transferred outside the United Kingdom. These transfers are covered by the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified, or otherwise by the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, which are safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
How long data is kept
- Comments and their metadata: retained indefinitely so that follow-up replies make sense, unless you ask for removal.
- Email correspondence: kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter, then for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Server logs: typically retained for a short period (usually up to 30 days) before being overwritten.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data held about you
- Rectification — have inaccurate data corrected
- Erasure — ask for your data to be deleted
- Restriction — ask that processing be limited
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent — at any time, where consent is the basis

If you’re unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
This site publishes content about adult products and is intended for people aged 18 and over. I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted personal data here, please get in touch and I’ll delete it.

This policy may be updated from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be noted on this page.
